8.00-9.45 History of microsurgery. Special fields of application: the role of small laboratory animal models
10.00-10.45 Operating microscopes.
11.00-12.45 Microsurgical instruments (scissors, forceps, needle-holders, approximating vessel clamps).
14.00-16.00 Microsurgical suture materials and needles.
2. day
8.00-16.00 Practice: The use of the microscope and microsurgical instruments. Adaptation to the operating microscope by different magnifications. Harmony between eyes and hands.
14.00-16.00 Practice: Inserting stitches into pieces of rubber glove. Application of microsurgical needle-holders. Microsurgical knotting with needle-holders and forceps under the microscope.

8.00-16.00 Practice: Different suture and knotting techniques on pieces of rubber glove or rubber practice card (Braun) using different direction and different magnification

8.00-16.00 Practice: Basic principle of vascular surgery: End-to-end arterial anastomosis on a femoral arterial graft prepared from and experimetnal animal

8.00-16.00 Practice: Repetition of the different suture and knotting techniques on pieces of rubber glove or rubber practice card (Braun) using different direction and different magnification. End-to-end and end-to-side arterial anastomosis on a femoral arterial graft

8.00-16.00 Practice: The reconstruction of the abdominal aorta of the rat. Anaesthesia and laparotomy. Dissection of the aorta. End-to-end arterial anastomosis

8.00-16.00 Practice: End-to-end vessel anastomosis. Reconstruction of the abdominal aorta and inferior vena cava of the rat. Anaesthesia and laparotomy. Dissection of the aorta and inferior vena cava. End-to-end anastomosis.
